Now that we’re in the New Year and holiday cards are officially out… I can now share with you images from 2014’s Holiday Mini-Sessions!! I know that the holiday season seems so last year… well, it was! But I figure while you’re busy this weekend packing up Christmas decorations you can take a break, snuggle up with some hot chocolate, and have fun browsing through these cheerful images!! 🙂
The 2014 Holiday Mini-Session extravaganza was such a HUGE success that I had to offer TWO days of mini-sessions! A total of 18 sessions!!! If you read my latest post, you’ll already know that these mini-sessions were hosted at the lovely Tuckahoe Plantation. I loved catching up with returning clients and meeting new ones! I even had newlyweds drive all the way up from Virginia Beach to spend time with me! We got lucky with great weather on both days! The 20-minute interval sessions was a perfect amount of time to keep the kiddos entertained while I captured some great images! Everyone arrived on time and the day went by so quickly. I averaged roughly 30-45 “keeper” images per session which is pretty solid for only 20 minutes! For two days, I got to hang out with some lovely couples, families, babies, children, furry pets, and more! It was so much fun!! PS! I’m fully prepared for this blog post to possibly break the internet — image overload!! 🙂
As I prepared for these two days of shooting, I had my husband bring down all of our Christmas decorations from storage (he’s a trooper!). This way I could rummage through what I already had on-hand before going out and buying more décor (although, I’m always looking for an excuse to go to Homegoods!). A very special thanks to my dear friend, Emily Oliff, who handmade and contributed her precious burlap signs — she is SO very talented with crafts (she hopes to launch an Etsy page soon so contact me if you want her info.)!!!! I filled up my car the night before so everything was ready to go! I woke up early and arrived at Tuckahoe Plantation roughly 30 minutes prior to kicking it off so I had plenty of time to setup. I brought along my amazing Bose speakers and had the “Jingle Bell Rock” Pandora station playing in the background all day!
For my typical 90-minute session, I would’ve had more time to relax and explore the grounds of Tuckahoe Plantation. For the sake of timing with these mini-sessions, I setup several different Christmas stations so we didn’t lose time by walking around but also wanted to make sure I got some images with a generic background that my clients could use and show off year-round. I learned a few things with this mini-session series… save the cookie “station” for the last shot! For the first few sessions, I started with that setup and once the kiddos locked their eyes on the delicious Oreo cookies (for Santa!), there was no going back! Also, I will definitely have the Christmas balls and fake snow again for 2015’s Holiday Mini-Sessions — they were a huge hit!!
This was my first official full-day series of mini-sessions. I gained TONS of new clients and followers that have already started spreading the word for me in the New Year! Love watching their profile and cover photos being updated on Facebook. I received SO many cute holiday cards this year from clients using images from their session — you have no idea how happy it makes me!! I’m really looking forward to what 2015 will bring! 🙂
